My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to all whose lives have been touched and forever altered by the horrific terrorist attack on the people of the United States that took place in the air, at the World Trade Center and at the Pentagon. To all those involved in the search, rescue, safety and medical operations, thank you for your heroic and selfless effort under the worst circumstances imaginable. Terrorists may have carried out the attack, but it is hate that fueled it. "Hate" is the enemy. The only way to insure that this never happens again is for each and every one of us to dedicate our lives to the eradication of "hate" at every level, in its every form, when and wherever we encounter it. It is only by choosing a philosophy that holds respect, understanding, generosity of spirit, acceptance of each individual for their individuality and recognition of diversity as enrichment as one of its highest priorities, that our collective fight against hate begins. When, and only when, we extend this philosophy by example and teachings to our children and our children's children, do we have any chance defeating the "hate" mentality. How many people have to suffer, to die; how many families have to be torn apart; how many catastrophes must we endure in the name of "hate" before we, the people worldwide, can collectively say, "Enough?" I don't know the answers, but by word and deed, I add my voice: ENOUGH! If you feel you would like to add your voice, please feel free to distribute. Original author:Carol Bluestein 2001 |
